After my study on the Rijks Hogere Tuinbouwschool (Higher Horticultural education) at Utrecht and a meteorological education, I start working as officer Weather forecaster at the royal Dutch air force. Till 1975 working at different Cooperatives trading in and consulting about all kind of horticultural products from pesticides, fertilisers and technical greenhouse equipments.
From 1975 till 2007 mainly in the soilless culture business with the accent on crop consultancy and plant nutrition. First with pot plants in expanded clay (hydroponics).
From 1978 to 1994 at Rockwool-Grodan in the Netherlands at different jobs. Introduction of the substrate culture and crop consultancy ( Grodan stonewool) in The Netherlands and other European countries as well in South East Asia. Representing Grodan at different congresses about hydroponics.
After this period I have introduced pumice as a growing substrate in the Netherlands and worked as innovation manager for Cebeco Horti Products, a top cooperative. Research and introduction of new fertilisers, different biological pesticides and disinfection products in relation to hygienic horticultural production. Research and introduction of a new urea formaldehyde substrate. Used as a 100% growing medium( instead of stonewool) and in mixtures of other growing mediums like peat. Also used as mixture in soil in situ in the turf industry and on golf courses to save water.
During my retirement since June 2007, different crop consultancy project for a Dutch governmental organisation in India (university) and Vietnam (grower with different crops). |
