Currently, Lynette is the Scientific Director for SUNTEC International Hydroponic Consultants based in the lower North Island of New Zealand. SUNTEC provides consultancy advice to hydroponic growers, educators and manufacturers around the world, as well as carrying out product development and research trials in greenhouse facilities on site. SUNTEC has been involved in the establishment and providing ongoing technical support to commercial hydroponic operations in Panama, Iran, USA, the Caribbean, USA, Canada, Rarotonga, Singapore, Vanawatu, Papa New Guinea,Turkey, Jordan, Australia, the Philippines, Fiji and New Zealand. We specialize in the development of both high and low technology systems based on using locally available materials, labour and growing structures which provide the correct environment for commercial cropping. As a consultancy operation we have also run grower training seminars on production topics and the use of nutrient formulation software for hydroponic growers.
Suntec Research trials have examined production factors such as the use of foliar fertilizers, water conditioner units, silica and other beneficial plant nutrients, different systems of production, oxygen effects on plant growth, nutrient solutions, Neem and other botanical extracts, electrostatic sprayers, organic hydroponics, growing media evaluations, and nutrient formulations.
Lynette is also a regular technical journalist for the `Growing Edge Magazine’ (USA) and has had numerous articles published in `Good Fruit and Vegetables’ (Australia), `The Vegetable Growers news ‘(USA), `Maximum Yield Magazine’ (Canada),`The Tomato Magazine’ (USA), `South African Irrigation’ (South Africa) `Red Hidroponica’ (South America), HortNews (New Zealand).
She has also written four technical publications on hydroponic production: `Hydroponic Lettuce Production’ (1997), Hydroponic Capsicum Production’ (2000), `Fresh Culinary Herb Production’ (2002 and 2nd Edition 2005), Hydroponic Strawberry Production (2006) and Hydroponic Tomato Crop Production (2009). As well as writing for international publications, Lynette has presented seminars and papers at numerous hydroponic conferences including the HFF, AHGA, Hydroponic Merchants Association, Hydroponic Association of America, CropKing conference, CGHC meetings, Progressive Gardening Trade Association and the 5th International Course and Congress on Hydroponics (Asociacion Hidroponica Mexicana). Lynette has also been on the organizing committee of the International `South Pacific Soilless Culture Conference’ (Feb 2003), Massey University, and organized the pre conference study tour of NZ hydroponic producers. |
